Goras, on the highway beyond Gota, is mainly an alfresco restaurant with a haveli-like facade. Walk through a lawn to a recreational area which is done to a rural theme with a puppet show, theater and folk musicians or you can wait on charpoys set against a wall with tribal Pithora paintings. The Kathiawadi dining section has tables and chairs placed in a courtyard surrounded by thatched round houses, decorated with rural murals, mud work and mirror inlays, quite like the villages of Kutch and Kathiawad peninsulas. You can either sit cross-legged on the floor in front of wooden planks in one of the huts or outdoors at garden tables and chairs overlooking the lawn with a painted wall as the backdrop. The unlimited Kathiawadi Thali (Kathiawadi cuisine is served only after 7.30pm) comes in a leaf platter with farsaans, vegetables, Dal or yoghurt-based Kadhi, rice or Khichdi, local breads like Bajra Rotla or Wheat Rotlis, with unlimited refills and sweets. The accompaniments of salads, chutneys, pickles, white butter, chillies and lime are served in terracotta bowls placed in a basket. Or, you can opt for the a la carte section at the other end of the lawn. Must-tries are the Lahsuniya Bataka, Sev Tamatar and Kadhi. You'll also find some regular Chinese and European dishes
