Jack Rose is a name of a classic cocktail which is popular in 1920s and 1930s.Its name is derived from jack of the applejack and the light rose coloring from the grenadine. It is notably appeared in a scene in Ernest Hemingway's 1926 classic, The Sun Also Rises, in which Jake Barnes, the narrator, drinks a Jack Rose in a Paris hotel bar while awaiting the arrival of Lady Brett Ashley. Jack Rose is a very popular wine during the period World Wars I & II. It was strong enough for Real Man, yet is smooth enough for a lady.
